Who this covers

This policy covers every place Dealo runs: this website (getdealo.in), the Dealo bot on WhatsApp, the Dealo Chrome extension, and Dealo inside ChatGPT and Claude. Where they differ, it says so. “We” and “us” mean Dealo (getdealo); you can reach us any time at the address at the bottom of this page.

What Dealo never asks for, and never stores

Your card number, CVV, expiry date, OTP, UPI PIN, net-banking password, or your login for any store. There is no Dealo account and no Dealo password. You always pay on the store’s own website or app — your money never passes through us, and neither do the details behind it.

We ask before recording your visit, and we take no for an answer

To see where people get stuck, we’d like to record a replay of your visit — mouse movements, clicks, scrolling, and the pages you move through. We ask first, and nothing is recorded unless you say yes.
  • What you type is never recorded, whichever way you answer. The search box and the places your search is shown back to you are blanked out of every replay. The one exception is a comment you choose to send us after the short “Not buying? Tell us why” question — that’s sent as your answer.
  • Say no and there is no recording at all, and nothing that identifies your browser. We keep a count of how many people reached each step — not tied to you or to anyone — so we can still see where the site loses people.
  • If you say yes, the replay shows the Dealo window only. We can’t see your other tabs, and it stops the moment you leave for a store or voucher site. It does show the pages you saw, including the products we showed you.

What we collect on the website

What you search for

The product name you type, or the product link you paste, is sent to our server so it can run the search. Our server works it out and answers — it doesn’t write your search to a database. What it holds is a short-lived memory cache that speeds up repeat lookups and is wiped whenever the server restarts.

How you use the site

If you agree to be recorded, we keep a record of what happens as you use Dealo — a search being run (including the words you searched), which product you picked, the prices and savings you were shown, which buttons and links you tapped, the pages you viewed, your answer if you reply to the “Not buying? Tell us why” question (including any comment you type there), where your visit came from (the website or ad that sent you, including any campaign tags in the link), and the replay described above. These are tied to a random identifier created by your browser, not to your name. Our analytics provider also derives an approximate location — city and region — from your internet connection.

If you haven’t agreed, none of that happens: no identifier, no replay, no record of what you searched. All that’s kept is a count of how many people reached each step of the site — including opening a store or voucher link, which our server counts as it forwards you — with nothing attached to say who they were.

Links to stores and voucher partners

Store, voucher-partner and card links on Dealo pass through our own server on the way. It records that the link was opened, which store or partner it was for, and where on the page it was — tied to your random identifier if you agreed to be recorded, and to nothing otherwise.

What your browser keeps

Dealo stores a few things on your own device so the site works sensibly:
  • Your answer to the recording question, so we don’t ask again every time you open a page.
  • That random identifier, so repeat visits count as one person rather than several — only if you agreed to be recorded. Say no and it is never created; change your mind later and it’s deleted.
  • Your last search and its results, so a refresh or a trip to a store doesn’t lose your place.
  • Small preferences — whether the sidebar is collapsed, whether you’ve seen the intro tour, whether we’ve already asked why you didn’t buy (we only ask once).
Clearing your browser’s site data for getdealo.in removes all of it, and gives you a fresh identifier.

What we don’t ask for

The website has no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, age, or address, and we have no way to link a visit to you as a person unless you contact us yourself.

What we collect on WhatsApp

If you message the Dealo bot, WhatsApp gives us your phone number, and we receive what you send — your messages, and any product photo or link you share. We use them to answer you and nothing else.

How long we keep it

Your conversation is held in the server’s memory while it’s live, so the bot can remember what you were looking at, and is discarded after a period of inactivity or whenever the server restarts. It isn’t written to a database.

One thing to be aware of

Your phone number is included in the usage records we send to Mixpanel, so that the steps of one conversation can be read together. That means our analytics provider receives your number. We do not send your IP address with those records. Store and voucher links the bot sends pass through our server, which records when you open one. If you open WhatsApp from this website after agreeing to be recorded, the pre-filled message ends with a short code: the bot reads it and uses it to connect your website visit to your WhatsApp conversation. WhatsApp messages themselves are carried by Meta, under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.

What the Chrome extension collects

The extension watches for a checkout or cart page, and when it sees one it asks our server a single question: is there a voucher for this store, and what would it save?

What it sends us

  • The store’s domain — croma.com, for example. Not the full page address, not the product, not the page’s contents.
  • The order total shown on the page, when it can read one confidently, so the saving can be shown in rupees rather than as a percentage. If it can’t, nothing is sent for this.
  • The full address of the page you’re on, but only at the moment you use the button that sends you back to the store through our link (see “How Dealo makes money” below).

What it keeps on your device, and never sends us

  • Whether you’ve already dismissed the popup for a store, so it doesn’t ask twice.
  • A note of a purchase you’re part-way through — the store, the total, the suggested voucher — because buying a voucher means leaving the store and coming back. Discarded after two days, or as soon as the purchase is done.
  • Voucher codes you’ve bought, so you can paste them back into the store’s discount box. These stay on your machine. Our servers never receive them.
  • If you agree to usage records, a random identifier used only for them (see below).

Usage records

Only if you tick “Share anonymous usage” on the extension’s welcome screen — it starts unticked, and you can untick it there any time. Then, so we can see where people get stuck, the extension sends Mixpanel a short record when it finds a checkout, shows a deal, moves to the next step, or you press one of its buttons. Each record carries the store’s domain, the order total and saving it worked out, which step or button it was, the extension’s version, and the random identifier above, so the steps of one purchase can be read together. The identifier is not linked to your name, email or phone number. Records never contain voucher codes or PINs, what’s in your cart, or the address of any page. Removing the extension deletes the identifier; reinstalling makes a new one.

Why it asks to run on all websites

Chrome warns that the extension can read and change your data on all websites. It asks for that because it can’t know in advance which store you’ll shop at — it has to be on the page to notice you’ve reached a checkout. It does not read or send the contents of the pages you visit, beyond the order total described above. The extension has no account, and nothing it sends is tied to your name, email or phone number.

What Dealo in ChatGPT and Claude collects

If you add Dealo to ChatGPT or Claude, the assistant can ask our server for a gift card price while you chat. You can also turn Dealo off there at any time.

What it sends us

  • The shop’s name or website, as the assistant understood it from your message (“Nykaa”, for example).
  • The amount you mentioned, if you mentioned one.
That is all. We never receive your name, email, phone number, your ChatGPT or Claude account, or the rest of your conversation.

What we record

Each lookup is recorded in Mixpanel with the shop name, the amount, whether a discount was found, and whether it came from ChatGPT or Claude, with no identifier attached, so lookups can’t be linked to each other or to a person. If you press “Buy” on a Dealo card, the click passes through our link on its way to the voucher site and is recorded the same way. Our host also keeps short-lived technical logs of each request.

What OpenAI and Anthropic see

Your conversation, and Dealo’s answer within it, are handled by OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Anthropic (Claude) under their own privacy policies.

Who else sees this information

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s advertising. It reaches these companies only because they do a specific job for Dealo:
  • Mixpanel — our analytics provider. Holds the usage records and session replays described above, and records of purchases affiliate networks report to us, on European servers.
  • Meta (WhatsApp) — carries messages to and from the Dealo bot. WhatsApp only.
  • OpenAI and Anthropic — run ChatGPT and Claude, and pass Dealo the shop and amount described above. Only if you add Dealo there.
  • Search and page-reading services — receive the product name or link you searched, so they can fetch public store pages on our behalf and read the price. They receive what you searched for, not who you are.
  • Affiliate networks — see the click that sends you to a store, as described below.
  • Our hosting providers — run the website and the server, and keep short-lived technical logs of requests, as any web host does.
We may also share information if the law requires it of us.

How Dealo makes money

Dealo is free. When you go to a store or voucher partner through a Dealo link, that click is routed through an affiliate network, and if you buy something we may earn a commission. The commission is paid by the store out of its own margin — it adds nothing to your price, and it isn’t what decides which route Dealo shows you. That’s decided by the final price you’d pay. The network sees the click and the resulting purchase. So we can tell which Dealo link led to a sale, each link carries a random code: your random identifier on the website, or a scrambled code on WhatsApp that can’t be turned back into your number. The network never receives your name, phone number or email from us. It reports the sale back to us (store, order value and our commission), and we add it to our usage records.

How long things are kept

  • On our server: nothing is written to disk. Searches and conversations live in memory and are gone on restart.
  • Usage records and session replays: held by Mixpanel for as long as we keep using the service, unless you ask us to delete yours. On the website, only created if you agreed to be recorded. The extension’s records are described above.
  • Step counts: kept indefinitely, because there is nothing personal in them to delete — they are totals, with no person attached.
  • On your device: until you clear your browser’s site data, or remove the extension.

Your choices

  • Changing your mind: clearing your site data for getdealo.in makes Dealo ask again, and deletes the identifier and everything else the site kept on your device.
  • Removing the extension removes everything it stored, including any saved voucher codes.
  • You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email us and we’ll do it. For the website, tell us roughly when you visited, since we have no name to look you up by. For WhatsApp, your phone number is enough.

Children

Dealo isn’t intended for anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Dealo and sent us something, email us and we’ll delete it.

Keeping it safe

The site and the extension talk to our server over an encrypted connection, and access to our analytics is limited to the people running Dealo. No service on the internet can promise perfect security, and we won’t pretend otherwise — but the most sensitive thing about a purchase, the payment itself, never reaches us at all.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. Worth a look now and then if you use Dealo regularly.
